There isn’t too much rabies on our home turf (the Bay Area) but this story reminds us that it’s here, alright. In general, everywhere in the United States — except Hawaii! — is home to rabid bats.
Chapter 8 of Rabid documents an extraordinary effort to eradicate dog rabies from Indonesia’s Bali, two deadly years after the was introduced to the island. Bali Animal Welfare Association, the organization that mobilized the vaccine campaign, is in need of on-site volunteers and monetary donations. Please support their good work!
